Alice in Wonderland Kids Costume

Hello faithful readers.. yes, I have been out of my blogging mode for a while now.. but now that I have more energy (in the second trimester) I feel motivated to do a little more.. I posted this on my facebook already, but thought I'd try to keep my blog "relatively" up to date. :)

E has been wanting to be Alice in Wonderland for some time now.. I went to the store and found this cheap costume for $20-$25!  I was mortified at the cost of Halloween costumes!  The fabric alone probably cost the manufacturer 30 cents!  So I decided to try my hand at sewing my own.  I usually go buy a pattern, but I was too cheap to do it, so I reference this book that I have...

By the way, I LOVE this book!  It's very helpful if you're new to making patterns.

Anyway.. referenced the book and make E's costume from scratch!  I should have taken pictures of the process, but I was too lazy.  Next time. :)

Though it's unironed, I think it turned out pretty good!  Eddie thinks it looks like a waitress uniform though.. boo Eddie.  I'm thinking of selling the pattern for some money. hahha.

The back

The cutie in just the dress.. I'll take a picture with her full costume once it's ironed. :)

Next time.. the Mad Hatter..

They grow up so fast...

In 9 days my baby cousin, the youngest of all the cousins, is going to be getting married! I can't believe how quickly time has passed and I can't believe Aili will be a wife!  For the three weddings that our family has had, I've made each bride a wedding veil (did you know you can make one really cheaply instead of paying hundreds of dollars??).  Mine was a cathedral length, and both my sister's were fingertip length.

So Aili follows in our tradition... I hope to make one for her older sisters one day *hint hint* :).  I made this very thin one (the bride wanted a fuller one) that I gave it to Elizabeth to play with.  She LOVES it.  When she wears it, it makes me so sad to think that one day my baby will be (God willing) someone's wife...

She's not posing, just watching TV.

Now she's posing..

My little baby's growing up.  She put the crown and dress on herself.

I'm trying to convince my husband to have another baby, but he said, "No!" hahah. We'll see about that...

Elizabeth turned 4!

Elizabeth had her very first "friend" birthday party.  Long past are the days when her birthday was used to invite MY friends over and their kids. :)  Sad... Elizabeth made her guest list and decided to have a princess tea party.  What was really sad was that a lot of my close friends only have BOYS!!!! Where are the girls??? :)  So she invited her cousins, a few friends from church and a handful of preschool friends.  They were so cute!

The theme was princesses and they used real china, from my mom, and had their first tea party. :)

Cinderella came to the door..
Here I am trying to make her cake.. My first attempt at decorating.. it's supposed to be a castle. :)

Hot Dog crescents and pb&j rolls.. some of her favorite foods.

The decor..

With the teacups!

The goody bags were mesh bags that I folded into little skirts.. filled with jewelry, nailpolish, candy, etc.

Another food area... some food for the moms... biscotti's, camembert cheese, etc.

The cake is almost done here.. Can you tell it's supposed to be a castle?

The first craft of the day.. making your own wands

Elizabeth and Naomi.. Elizabeth's dress is a bit scandalous.

First game.. Find Cinderella's lost shoe!  Prize was ring pops because after Cinderella's shoe is found, they get married! :)

Tea party time!  Here is Nutella/Banana Rounds and Chocolate wafers. :)

My dainty princess

Cutie Reaggie

Eden's a big girl!

Lydia's thinking about what she wants to eat, but Audrey's digging in!

Elizabeth eating an oreo ball with her dainty fingers

Some food.. lemon cookies, fruit/creme in chocolate cups, strawberry piroettes, hotdog crescents, pbj rolls, oreo balls and more!!

Look at how precious Audrey is! What a young lady!

Second craft.. making candy necklaces... as if they weren't sugared enough. We had another game but didn't take pictures.. it was to put together princess puzzles pieces that they had to find around the house.  The prize was princess crowns!

Cake time! Ava's enjoying her ringpop. :)

Look at these cuties!

Some of Elizabeth's cousin's and school friends. :)

Oh ee-ah.. so cute!  Auggie's staring in the background.

The kids were so good!  After the party I just crashed. hahah. I love throwing little parties like this for my baby girl, but it definitely wears me down.  Good thing birthdays only come once a year. Auggie's just going to get hotdogs in the backyard. hahah  Happy Birthday baby girl!  Mommy loves you!

Glass Slipper

Elizabeth's in her princess stage right now... as many of your toddler children are.  Almost EVERYDAY she will go to her room and change her clothes into multiple costumes (we have an armoire full of dresses).

One of her favorite dvd's is the Cinderella dvd (Side note: Have you guys noticed that old school Disney movies are pretty scary?).  It's the only one I let her watch from her our Disney collection.  Yes, I have a Disney collection.  Another story for another day. :)  Anyway.. yesterday she decided to make herself a pair of glass slippers.  She kept asking me for some tape and I didn't know what she was doing until I saw her feet...

At first she made it open toed..

Then she decided to close it off because that's how Cinderella wears it.

Here she is in her barbie costume and glass slippers. :)
Even though the kids drive me crazy sometimes.. they really do make my day by the hilarious things they do!

Spooky Child

*For Eling because she reads my blog :)*

Elizabeth has this habit of waking up in the middle of the night and hopping into our bed.  We often find her lying between us in the morning naked because she's too hot to wear pajamas.  We actually don't know what time she usually comes to our bed because we're knocked out!

The other night I was up late reading a book on square foot gardening (yes, I know, random).  It was around midnight that I heard a strange noise upstairs.  I looked at the baby monitor... Auggie.. sleeping... Elizabeth... gone!  I waited a little to see if she would come downstairs, but nothing.  After about 5 minutes, I decided to go check on her.

As I was walking up our dark stairway I felt a little eerie like someone was watching me.  About 3 steps shy of the top, I felt really creeped out.  I reached to the side without continuing up the stairs and turned on the light to find Elizabeth sitting at the top of the stairs with her eyes closed and sucking on her fingers.  I screamed from the shock and scared her half to death.

She started bawling as I was cracking up because she scared me.  I asked her what was wrong and she said, "I did something bad."  I asked her what she did and she said, "I scared mommy." hahahah

Elizabeth's spooky face. :)
